Are you giving an iPod as a gift this Christmas? Why not introduce those people you’re giving them too, to the wonderful world of Podcasts.

There are many wonderful podcasts out there, ranging from Health and Beauty, Technology to Family and children. Not to mention everything in between.

Best of all, Podcasts are free and available from the iTunes store or from Podcast directories such as www.blubrry.com

A podcast is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and downloaded through web syndication. Podcasts can be automatically synchronized to your portable media device allowing the listener to listen to or watch the podcast on the move or whenever is convenient.

Note: not all podcasts are suitable for children and some contain language or content that may disturb. I advise parental guidance if your child is subscribing to podcasts.

The iTunes application does have parental controls to limit exposure to such content. I highly recommend turning this on. Explicit content podcasts are usually marked with an logo next to them.
