Upgrading Joomla! 1.7.3 to 2.5.0

Written by
If you've been following my Twitter, Facebook or Google+ updates this afternoon, you would have noticed I embarked on a mission to upgrade Joomla! 1.7.3 to 2.5.0. All in all the upgrade process went pretty smoothly, initially I had only planned on upgrading a couple of sites which had few extensions installed, due to some issues I had with various extensions while testing 2.5beta1, 2.5beta2 and 2.5RC1.

Joomla and J Admin Mobile

Written by
As some may be aware, I recently migrated my websites from Wordpress to Joomla. This transition has gone extremely well over all. I found myself lacking one thing though, the ability to manage the sites and post content (in a draft form) from my mobile devices. Well, that problem has been solved with J Admin Mobile for Android.

Podcasting with Joomla

Written by
Recently I began playing around with Joomla as I was trying to sort out an upgrade path from Joomla 1.5 to 1.7 for someone. After a few hours of playing with Joomla 1.7 (I actually didn't like 1.5 that much) I quickly began liking the abilities of Joomla. I installed a clean install on a test server and began configuring one of my sites, which ran Wordpress. While I still love and highly recommend Wordpress for its ease of use, Joomla became increasingly desirable for my  own requirements.

Google+ as I see it

Written by
Well, I’ve been on Google+ for coming on 5 days now. As it stands I think there is a lot of potential when it becomes more widely available. The biggest issue I see with it at present, is the fact that it’s a requirement to have a Gmail account. Though this may only be a beta limitation. However, as such it does seem a little quiet around Google+ in comparison to the likes of twitter and Facebook because most of my Facebook contacts don’t have Gmail accounts so I can’t invite them to join.

Trialing Dolphin Browser HD

Written by
I downloaded and installed the Dolphin Browser HD from http://blog.dolphin-browser.com/2011/05/17/dolphin-browser-hd-v5-0-beta1-comes-to-public/ on my Android.I have to say, initial thoughts are I am impressed. The browser kind of reminds me of chrome, which I use daily under Linux.Loading speeds appear to be pretty quick and I love the tabbed browsing and the ability to store more stuff on the SD card is a nice addition.if you’re looking for a good alternative browser for your Android, I suggest you check it out.
I have successfully updated my Telecom Samsung Galaxy GT i5503T to Android 2.2 via the Kies application. The firmware upgrade went very smoothly with no real issues. Well, Except one. The Swype keyboard stopped working and my phone simply vibrated frantically and I couldn’t type anything. I switched the input back to the Samsung Keyboard and instantly hated it.Frustrated I started playing around and managed to stumble upon a fix for the Swype Keyboard.Go into your Settings > Application > Manage Applications and select the “ALL” tab at the top of the screen.Scroll down to Swype and tap it. You will then be taken to a screen where you’ll get one active option to “Clear Data”Simply Tap the “Clear Data” button then you can go back to the Language and Keyboard settings where you can setup the Swype Keyboard, and again change the Input back to Swype.Worked like a dream, I’m now back on Swype and running Android 2.2 on my Telecom Samsung Galaxy GT i5503T.

Website Clean Out

Written by
Welcome to the new and improved, cleaned out version of the Xunil Solutions Website. I decided to give the site a clean out and a complete overhaul in the design. In an attempt to keep the site fast, I’ve removed all the excess junk I had floating around in it, and having moved the podcasts to another site I decided to bring Xunil Solutions back to the forefront of the website. By now your podcatchers should have been redirected to the new site for the Podcast. While Xunil Solutions was always in the background of the XTN design, It was never gone. So, here it is Xunil Solutions presence, back to how it should have always been, 100% Visible!
